In the period between the first and the second world war Zlatibor becomes known
also as a ski centre.
" ...Without any exaggeration we can say that Zlatibor is the most ideal place for
skiing. Very gentle slopes make it possible for the beginners to learn basic steps
of skiing in a couple of days. For those who are trained already the slopes of
Tornik offer possibilities of real adventures..." (From Belgrade magazine
"Vreme",
on Jan.14-th 1935).
Because of high snow and unpassable country roads in the thirtieths the clever
Zlatibor people from the village of Rudine start making skies by themselves and
using them for transport and for doing their village chores.
In the year 1948 on Rudine "Ski club Rudine" is being
established. Its founders Janićije Jeremić, Milija Glišović, Drago
Jeremić and Miloš Mišović compete and transfer their knowledge to younger generations.
In the sixtieths the club changes its name to "Ski club
Janićije Jeremić".
The team of Ilija Glišović, Dragan Glišović, Ratko
Jeremić and Slobodan Lazović reaches the greatest success in cross country running in the years 1975 and 1976
when they become Yugoslav national champions in Dražgoše in Slovenija.
It's to regret that this club is not active any more.
Today sports club "Čigota" exsists.
The beginners in skiing and children will enjoy on gentle slopes of Obudovica
and others, but better skiers will certainly decide to go to Tornik to some of
good ski tracks.
Sports centre "Tornik" has got three event tracks for slalom and giant slalom
and a track for super giant slalom.

There are three ski lifts prepared for the skiers: Krnevo plandiste,
Bandera and Bebi.
Except for the tracks: "Ribnica" (easy track) with the everage incline of 19 %,
"Čigota" (middle track) incline of 27% ,"Tornik"
(middle heavy track) incline of 28 %, "Zmajevac" (heavy track)
incline of 39 %, there is also a path for cross country skiing.
In the central part of Zlatibor, on the place of Tića
polje, Vranjevina, and Spomenik (behind "Zelenkada" hotel),
there registered paths for cross country skiing and biathlon exist and they are among the most beautiful in Europe
because of good view and ground configuration.
In Murtenica there is a spare cross country and biathlon track where snow
remains up to May.
