The mountain expanses of Tara, Sargan and Zlatibor are rich in all kinds of 
flora, of which we want to emphasize herbs this time.
From the great variety of them we represent only some:

      
-- thyme (thymus srepyllum L.),some local names: babina dusica, bukovica, divlji bosiljak, tamljanka...

A cosmopolite several years lasting herbaceus plant, a span high half-bush. 
Solid dense clod consists offlattened, very tiny (about 1 mm), branchy, somewher
sticking to the ground, intertwined, on the lower half woody, red-brown offspings
and stems out of which numerous upright branches are groving, which have small,
egg-like, rather long leaves and round cluster of flovers.

Gathering: You should garhet thyme (cut with sharp scissors the upper halfs of 
branches whit leaves when they are blooming) about noon, when there is no dew, 
when the weather is nice, warm and sunny.
Composition: tannin about 5 % and ethereal oil about 0,6 %
Use: It is entering the compounds of remerdy preparation for healing respiration
organs, digestion organs...It is used at a spice, a conservative and an
anti-septic aid.

-- herb Iva (teurcium montanium L.) local name: dubacac mali

A several years lasting flattened bush. Flattened stems raise with their 
top=parts. Leavse are smooth, linear lancer-shaped, on the back side densely
covered with white hair. Vertebra with clester of flovers gathered on the top of 
stems and branches into heads. The crown is yellow-like, twice longer then a 
celyx.
Gathering: It is growing on dry lime slopes and you pick it from the second half
of June till August and you cut it with sharp scissors almost near the root of 
the herb.
Use: There is a seying " herb Iva makes a dead men alive" (it eliminates stomach
problems...)


      
   -- Klamath weed (hiperycum perforatum) some local names: bogorodicina trava, zuta
kantarija, gorac, gospina trava, ivanova trava.

Sevaral years lasting herbaceus weeds plant, 30-100 cm high, it grows everywhere
but it likes deserted fields most. It nas got a strong angles branchy stem and 
on the top there are flowery closters of yellow flowers, with five-leaves calyx,
five slanting,egg-like dark-yellow, a little unevel leaves of the crown and 
about 50 stamens grown together into three little bundles, above which a
threefold dark red pastle rises.

Gathering: You collect the upper half of the plant while blooming and dry it in
a shade. From 4 kg of fresh herb you can get 1 kg of dry one.
Use: Klamath weed has always been greastly valued by people and it has been used
from outside to heal locerations, burns, hemoroids, for healing wounds and as an 
antiseptic and from inside against pains in liver, stomach and agains diarrhea.
Klamath weed oil, centuries old remedy, has entered scientific medicine,
veterinery medicine and cosmetics science.
